Genoa Township Police Chief, Deputy Chief Announce Retirements; New Chief Named

Genoa Township officials announce that a retired deputy chief from the Columbus Division of Police will serve as the department's new chief. Get details.

Genoa Township announced on Thursday the retirements of both the department's chief and deputy chief.

Chief Robert E. Taylor and Deputy Chief David A. Stout will retire on July 31.

Retired Columbus Division of Police Deputy Chief Stephen Gammill will take over as the new police chief on Aug. 1.

According to township officials, Gammill brings 34 years of experience to the position.

Taylor was appointed as police chief in Jan. 1998, when he retired as chief deputy of patrol for the Franklin County Sheriff's office. Stout came to Genoa Township in 2004 after retiring from the FBI. He was named deputy chief in 2009.
