Former WBNS-10TV 'Chiller Theater' Host Dies After Cancer Battle

Former WBNS-10TV "Chiller Theater" host Dan Imel passed away in Johns Creek, Ga., Saturday after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Imel, 69, served as host of "Chiller Theater," a double-feature, Friday night broadcast which began in the 1960s.

Imel also served as a fill-in news anchor and a straight man for Flippo The Clown.

He also won two Emmy awards for his travel show, "High Road To Adventure," on 10TV.

Imel was succeeded as host of "Chiller Theater" by Fritz The Night Owl.

Former WBNS-10TV News Public Affairs Director Chuck White said that Imel was a great personality for the station.

"Dan was dynamite," White said. "He really was a great personality on the air."

Dan is survived by his wife of 21 years, Cindy Cobbs Imel, his brother, Bill of Bloomfield, Ind., his niece, Kelli, great-niece, Kiley and his mother, Margret of Anderson, Ind.
