A persistent fire at a grain elevator prompted authorities to evacuate some homes andbusinesses on Monday.
The fire was burning inside a silo at the Southwest Landmark facility, located west ofdowntown on Huntington Road.
Video taken by Chopper 10 on Monday afternoon showed a firefighter on top of the silo as smokewas seen coming out of vents.
Some homes and businesses located within one mile radius of the silo were evacuated.
It was not known how long the evacuations would remain in place.
South Charleston is located about 40 miles west of Columbus.
