10TV dug up some old footage of Central Ohio’s favorite clown in the 10TV Video Vault.
Flippo was an iconic figure for Columbus TV programming for children. He introduced cartoons and performed magic tricks on an afternoon show on 10TV.
Under the clown costume however was a man named Marvin Fishman, better known as Bob Marvin. He was discovered by WBNS-TV in 1951 and was asked to audition for a children’s program.
He went on to perform for more than 25 years and passed away in 2006.
These clips show Flippo introducing Santa at Westland Mall in 1971 and him leading kids to city hall to ask for a donation from Mayor Jack Sensenbrenner in 1970. There is also a promo clip of his early show from 1970.
10TV will continue to release more as they are recovered from the archives.
