South-Western City Schools names Randy Banks as new superintendent

Banks will officially assume the role of superintendent on Aug. 1.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio — The South-Western City Schools board voted unanimously Saturday morning to approve Randy Banks as the district's new superintendent.

Banks is returning to the district after serving as the assistant superintendent at Worthington City Schools.

He will replace South-Western's current superintendent, Bill Wise, who is retiring from the position in August.

Banks has served as the assistant superintendent in Worthington since 2015. Before that, he was the director of human resources for Worthington schools and the personnel director for certificated staff at South-Western.

Earlier in Banks' career, he served as the principal at both Brookpark Middle School and Finland Middle School.  He earned his master's degree in educational leadership at Ohio State University.

“I am incredibly grateful to the Board of Education for their support and confidence in me and am resolved to hit the ground running in this new and unbelievable opportunity,” Banks said.

He will officially assume the role of superintendent on Aug. 1.

South-Western is the fifth largest district in the state, home to about 21,000 students and 2,700 staff members. The district serves Columbus, Grove City, Franklin Township and other communities in the southwestern portion of central Ohio.
