Documents Reveal Disturbing Details About Former Columbus Officer’s Child Porn Case

10TV has uncovered disturbing new details about a former Columbus Police Officer who has admitted to child pornography charges.

Stewart Miller was a 22 year veteran of the Division, but resigned after agreeing to plead guilty to receiving child pornography.

Records obtained by 10TV reveal it was Miller's wife who made the horrible discovery of child pornography in their home.

Stewart "Sam" Miller was a man of the law, writing 22 years ago in his probationary evaluation with Columbus Police, "I believe that my decision to become a Columbus Police Officer was the right one. I hope and will try to serve the City of Columbus well."

But he was also a man with secrets, uncovered by his wife in a series of terrible discoveries inside their Sunbury home.
     
Federal search warrants obtained by 10TV lay out the events that led to his downfall.

It began two years ago, when she stumbled onto some "25 images" of "nude underage females" on her husband's laptop.

When she confronted him, she says, he blamed them on her "then-teenage son."
     
This July, she told investigators she "found a thumb drive" she believed contained "photos from a recent family vacation."

Instead, she says it contained "dozens" of images of "underage and prepubescent females in various forms of undress and nudity."

She says this time, he explained it away as "a curiosity" and said he'd never view or save such photos again. She says that's when she began searching their home, and found a "small hidden camera...beneath an entertainment center" in their upstairs living room. She says a search of the crawl space above her husband's bathroom turned up a "VHS tape, hard drives" and a "thumb drive."

According to the warrant, the VHS tape showed sex acts involving underage family members, unknowingly recorded by the hidden camera.

The drives contained multiple "images and videos of underage females" including one girl "approximately 8 to 10 years of age."

Investigators say that's when Miller's wife called the FBI and reported what she had found.
     
On December 5, Miller agreed to plead guilty to one count of receiving child pornography.

The next day, he resigned from the Columbus Division of Police.

Miller is set to plead guilty Tuesday.

His sentencing has not yet been scheduled, but he faces between 5 and 20 years in prison.

His wife has declined to comment.
