Police: Southwest Columbus shooting leaves woman seriously injured

Officers were called on a report of multiple shots being fired in the 700 block of Canonby Place, located in the South Franklinton neighborhood, shortly after 7 p.m.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A woman is seriously injured following a shooting on the city's southwest side Monday evening, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

Officers were called on a report of multiple shots being fired in the 700 block of Canonby Place, located in the South Franklinton neighborhood, shortly after 7 p.m.

Sergeant Joe Albert said that when officers arrived at the scene, they found several vehicles and apartments had been struck by gunfire but no victims were found.

Around 7:30 p.m., officers were told that there was a walk-in shooting victim at Ohio State East Hospital, Albert said. They were able to determine the woman was shot during the incident on Canonby Place. Police said she is expected to survive her injuries.

Albert said this is still a very active investigation and that early reports are indicating that several people were shooting at each other during what appeared to have started as some sort of altercation.
