COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man was arrested and charged with murder after a woman was stabbed to death in southwest Columbus on Monday.
Officers with the Columbus Division of Police were called to the 2000 block of Harrisburg Pike just before 1 p.m. for a welfare check. When they arrived at the scene alongside Columbus Division of Fire personnel, they forced entry into a property and found 39-year-old Kylene Young unresponsive.
She was pronounced dead by medics at the scene.
Court records say Young's vehicle was missing from her home and a stolen vehicle report was filed. It was found in Athens County a day later with her boyfriend, 23-year-old Tyler Stiers inside. He was arrested and charged with her murder.
According to court records, Stiers allegedly stabbed Young multiple times. Columbus Police's latent fingerprint unit identified a bloody palm print at the scene that reportedly belonged to Stiers, records say.
According to the affidavit, during questioning, Stiers admitted to striking Young with a closed fist and she stabbed him in the arm in self-defense. Stiers allegedly struck her several more times and took the knife from her and stabbed her multiple times.
