Police: Suspect who allegedly shot man during argument in west Columbus arrested in Indiana

Police issued an arrest warrant for 22-year-old Alejandro Angulo-Ramos. He is charged with murder.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Authorities arrested a suspect who allegedly shot and killed a man during an argument on the city's west side Sunday night. 

The Columbus Division of Police said 22-year-old Alejandro Angulo-Ramos was arrested in Ferdinand, Indiana by the Indiana state police at a Sunoco service station Monday morning. He is charged with murder in the shooting death of 22-year-old Jonathan Santiago.

Officers were called to the 1000 block of Cliff Creek Drive, located west of Hilliard Rome Road, around 10:30 p.m. on a reported shooting.

Police found Santiago at the location suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Doctor’s West with life-threatening injuries.

Police said despite receiving life-saving medical care, Santiago succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 11:07 pm. 

Records from Franklin County Municipal Court state that Angulo-Ramos and Santiago were in a physical altercation before the shooting. Angulo-Ramos pushed Santiago and witnesses said he pulled a firearm and shot the man in the upper body. 

Angulo-Ramos left the scene in a beige Toyota Corolla.

Police said Angulo-Ramos will be extradited to Ohio.
