Police said 34-year-old Gregory Howard was indicted on multiple counts in the death of 38-year-old Raymond Morris.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police announced Monday a suspect has been indicted in the death of a man found in a burning vehicle earlier this year in Franklinton.

Police said 34-year-old Gregory Howard was indicted on multiple counts in the death of 38-year-old Raymond Morris.

Fire crews were called out to the 100 block of North Yale Avenue around 8:40 p.m. on Jan. 7 for a report of a vehicle fire.

After extinguishing the flames, crews found Morris in the vehicle's back seat. He was pronounced dead at 8:56 p.m.

On Feb. 2, the Franklin County Coroner's Office said Morris died from a gunshot wound and ruled his death a homicide.

In Monday’s update, police said Howard was indicted for murder, arson and a number of other offenses. He is currently at the Franklin County Jail on a related robbery offense.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477).
