COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man was arrested and charged Tuesday morning in connection to a double shooting in southeast Columbus on Monday, police say.
Officers with the Columbus Division of Police were called to the 800 block of Studer Avenue just after 10:25 p.m. on a report of a shooting.
Two victims, including a juvenile, were taken to Grant Medical Center.
Sgt. Joe Albert said the juvenile was in critical condition and taken into surgery for their injuries. The other victim, who police said is an adult, was described as stable. Police said both are expected to survive.
Davon Coates, 31, turned himself in to police and was arrested outside of Mount Carmel East Hospital on Tuesday morning, Albert said.
A firearm was reportedly found in the vehicle he was traveling in.
Franklin County Municipal Court documents say that Coates told police he shot the victims in an act of self-defense.
He is charged with two counts of felonious assault.
