REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio — In the heart of Reynoldsburg just off Main Street, you’ll find Broad Alley. Here, property has been the target of tagging.
“No one really wants to see this,” Seth Distelzweig said.
Distelzweig has lived here since 2008. A couple weeks ago while on a walk with his family they noticed it.
One after another.
“And then we noticed all the tags coming down the street,” he said.
Businesses. Utility boxes. Buildings. A dumpster. All vandalized.
He took photos and called Reynoldsburg Police. The department confirms to 10TV it is aware of several items being tagged since Feb. 15.
“If tags stay up then that inspires more tagging because then it becomes sort of a competition,” Distelzweig said.
Reynoldsburg police say there are currently no persons of interest.
Without a culprit, Distelzweig worries the cleanup will fall on the city or the property owners.
“No one wants to have to pay to clean up something that really…it’s pointless,” he said.
Distelzweig says he appreciates police and realizes tagging is probably not high on a department’s ‘to-do’ list. What he wants is for more people to stay aware and check doorbell and surveillance video to see if anything suspicious was caught on camera.
