COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Portsmouth man has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl.
According to Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman, his office was contacted on Monday by the Portsmouth Police Department and the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Special Victim Unit to report the incident.
The victim was initially taken to Southern Ohio Medical Center for treatment before being transferred to Adena Regional Medical Center for an examination.
According to Thoroughman, investigators were able to locate the suspect, identified as 18-year-old Cody Lee Taylor, and detain him for questioning.
Taylor was arrested and charged with one count of rape. He is currently being held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
