Malcolm West is currently being held in the Franklin County Correction Center and was given a $50,000 bond.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Columbus man was arrested on child pornography charges while police were investigating the death of his girlfriend two months ago.

On Feb. 12, 35-year-old Malcolm West was interviewed by homicide detectives about the shooting death of his girlfriend.

Records from the Franklin County Municipal Court say West voluntarily turned over his personal cell phone to the detectives. After a digital examination, police learned that West had more than 100 videos of child pornography.

The evidence was turned over to the exploited children unit. Detectives reviewed the evidence and found there were over 960 videos of sexual activity involving children under the age of 14.

West is charged with four counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor. He is currently being held in the Franklin County Correction Center and was given a $50,000 bond.
