Police: Convicted felon arrested at Columbus high school after running from officers

Rondell Lightfoot was charged with having weapons under disability, domestic violence and assault.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A convicted felon was arrested after police said he ran from officers at a Columbus high school on Friday.

Police said officers were called to Africentric Early College K-12 on Allegheny Avenue just before 9 a.m. because 41-year-old Rondell Lamar Lightfoot was with a victim of domestic violence.

Police said Lightfoot saw the officers, got out of his car and tried to run away, but he was caught. While he was running, police said he tried to throw away suspected drugs that were on him.

Officers later found a stolen handgun in the vehicle as well, according to police.

Lightfoot was charged with having weapons under disability, domestic violence and assault.

Police said additional charges are pending.
