COLUMBUS, Ohio — A woman accused of stealing a vehicle at gunpoint was arrested after being struck by a Columbus police cruiser on Monday.
The Columbus Division of Police said officers were called to the intersection of Berkeley and Bryden roads around 5:40 p.m. for reports of a woman who stole a victim's vehicle at gunpoint.
About two minutes later, officers found the suspect driving recklessly in the stolen car near South Ohio Avenue and East Main Street.
Police said the woman crashed into another vehicle, got out of the car and started running.
Officers found the woman running and said she had a gun on her. As the woman was crossing East Main Street, an officer hit the woman with their cruiser.
Medics treated the woman at the scene, who originally refused to be taken to a hospital. She was later taken to Grant Medical Center and her condition was described as stable.
A gun was recovered at the scene, according to police. No officers were injured and the victim's stolen car and property were recovered.
Police did not give the woman's name or say what her charges will be.
