COLUMBUS, Ohio — Four people, including a suspect, were hospitalized following a stabbing incident near Blacklick that led to at least one officer firing their weapon on Tuesday.
According to Sgt. James Fuqua with the Columbus Division of Police, dispatch began receiving multiple 911 calls around 2:50 p.m. about a stabbing at a house on Hoskins Way in the Waterford Park neighborhood off Taylor Station Road.
Arriving officers found the suspect on the front porch of the house holding a knife. Fuqua said the officers gave the suspect multiple commands to drop the knife, but he refused.
According to a news release issued by CPD, at least one officer discharged their gun and one officer deployed their Taser. Police initially said the suspect was shot by officers, but in an update provided at the scene, Fuqua said it's unclear if the suspect was struck by the gunfire.
Officers used their Tasers again and the suspect went down. Officers were able to get the knife away from the suspect and secure him.
Fuqua says three victims were believed to have been stabbed by the suspect. One of the victims is at least 70 years old. All of the victims are expected to survive.
The suspect was hospitalized in critical condition with unknown injuries. His condition has since been upgraded to stable, according to police. Police believe he may have injured himself prior to officers arriving at the scene.
No officers were injured. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations was requested to investigate the incident.
