JACKSON, Ohio — A man has been charged after a vehicle pursuit with Ohio State Highway Patrol officers when a trooper fired shots in Pike County Thursday morning, OSHP said.

OSHP states that troopers responded to a reported vehicle driving recklessly in the parking lot of Marathon on Twin Oaks Drive in Jackson just before 11:15 a.m. The vehicle, said to be a Dodge Ram, fled once troopers arrived at the scene and did not stop when apprehended.

The Dodge continued to flee westbound on state Route 32 at a high rate of speed, driving in the wrong direction in the eastbound lanes on multiple occasions. Troopers utilized stop sticks and made contact with the vehicle, but it did not stop.

After some time, the Dodge drove off-road through a wooded area and into a field where troopers again made contact with the vehicle. The suspect then struck a patrol car and a trooper fired shots.

The suspect, 36-year-old Dakota Lansing, of Piketon, was eventually taken into custody after fleeing to a residence.

No officers involved were injured as a result of the incident.

Lansing was charged with felonious assault on a police officer and failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer. He is incarcerated at the Jackson County Jail.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
