COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 24-year-old licensed social worker who was arrested earlier this month for allegedly engaging in sexual conduct with a 13-year-old boy was arrested again Thursday evening after showing up to the victim's home with a gun, according to Franklin County Municipal Court documents.
Court records state that Payton Shires showed up to the home of the victim around 5:30 p.m., even though she was not supposed to be there. The victim's mother was not home at the time, but called police after she saw Shires on her porch through her doorbell camera.
Officers arrived at the scene just before 5:40 p.m. and found Shires sitting on the front porch with a gun to her head and her finger on the trigger. Records say that she was yelling that she was going to kill herself.
The victim's mother told police that Shires had called her and told her that she wanted to kill herself and the victim's mother, because she and the victim ruined her life and took everything from her. The doorbell camera then went down after the victim's mother believes Shires "cut the cameras."
Shires was first arrested on Oct. 6 for allegedly engaging in sexual conduct with a 13-year-old boy assigned to her for counseling.
According to Franklin County court records, the teen's mother called police on Sept. 27 after finding text messages between her son and Shires.
In the messages, Shires allegedly asked the teen if he had "deleted the videos," and if his mother had "seen the videos or messages." The teen's mother turned the phone over to the officers who responded to the call.
Records show that days later detectives found a video on that cellphone of Shires and the 13-year-old victim having sex and engaging in other sex acts at various locations in Columbus. All the incidents, according to court records, occurred in September.
In addition to the existing charge of unlawful sexual conduct of a minor, Shires has now been charged with intimidation of a crime victim and intimidation of a crime witness.
She was previously held on a $500,000 bond, but posted bond on Oct. 12.
