COLUMBUS, Ohio — A woman accused of causing serious physical harm to a 2-year-old was arrested Wednesday by officers with the Pataskala Police Department and Madison Township Police Department.
According to police, 22-year-old Aunya Dixon, who is charged with endangering children, was taken to the Licking County jail. The Licking County Crime Stoppers offered a cash reward for information leading up to her arrest.
According to Licking County Common Pleas Court records, police were notified by Nationwide Children’s Hospital that a 2-year-old girl had been admitted on July 26, 2022 with a broken femur, liver lacerations, bruising to the face, stomach and ear as well as signs of bowel and kidney injuries.
Documents state Dixon took the child to Mount Carmel the night before reporting that the child hurt her leg when it got stuck between her bed and the wall at their home in Pataskala.
After scans revealed the broken femur, the child was transported to Nationwide Children’s.
A child abuse assessment team evaluated the child’s injuries and indicted that the history given by Dixon was not consistent with the injuries.
According to records, Dixon spoke with law enforcement and admitted the child had been in her care that afternoon but denied causing the injury or knowing exactly how the injuries happened.
During a polygraph examination on a later date, documents state Dixon changed her story and said she fell on the child’s leg.
The documents state the child had previously been seen for injuries at Nationwide Children’s on March 28, 2019 for a fall at two months old, on Sept. 13, 2020 for a right eyebrow laceration, Sept. 28, 2020 for an eye injury with bruising and abrasions, Dec. 5, 2020 for a right thumb fracture and July 3, 2021 for full burns to the buttocks and thighs.
