Ohio State student struck in leg by bullet near Weinland Park, university confirms

Columbus police said two people were injured out of a shooting that happened on North High Street near Weinland Park.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A student from The Ohio State University was reportedly shot near the Weinland Park neighborhood on Monday.

The Columbus Division of Police said officers were called to the 1400 block of North High Street around 3:50 p.m. after receiving a report of someone being shot.

Police found an adult who was shot. They were taken to a hospital and their condition was described as stable.

Columbus police said another adult transported themself to the hospital from injuries stemming from the same incident. Their condition was also described as stable.

A spokesperson with the university confirmed to 10TV that one of the victims was a student who was struck in the leg by a stray bullet.

“We are very thankful the individual was not more seriously injured. We have reached out to offer the student any support needed. The incident occurred off campus, and we will assist the CPD investigation in any way possible,” the spokesperson said.
