Police: 2 dead after shooting at Mansfield apartment

The ages and identities of the two have not yet been released.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Two people are dead after a shooting at an apartment complex in Mansfield Friday afternoon.

Officers with the Mansfield Department of Police were called to an apartment in the 300 block of Wood Street around 3:30 p.m. on a report of a domestic violence situation.

Upon arrival, officers were informed by neighbors that they heard gunshots coming from the apartment, prompting police to immediately enter the residence.

When they entered the apartment, officers found one male and one female suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Police provided aid until the Mansfield Fire Department arrived and took both victims to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. The female was pronounced dead a short time later. The male succumbed to his injuries several hours after that.

The ages and identities of the two have not yet been released.

During an investigation, police found that both people appeared to have been shot. Detectives don’t believe there was another person involved.

The shooting and what led up to it remains under investigation at this time.
