MANSFIELD, Ohio — A student in Mansfield was taken into custody Thursday after allegedly threatening to "shoot up" a middle school, according to the Mansfield Division of Police.
Police said they were contacted by Mansfield City school administrators who reported they had received two emails from a student account threatening to "shoot up" the Mansfield City Middle School.
Officers initiated an investigation to identify a suspect. With the assistance of school staff and administration, police were able to identify the suspect and take them into custody.
It's unclear if the student attends the middle school or if they will face charges.
Mansfield police encourage anyone who hears or sees threats or potentially violent activity to call their local law enforcement immediately.
