COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man was hospitalized after being stabbed in southeast Columbus Tuesday night.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, officers were called to the 6900 block of Gemstar Road, south of Tussing Road, for a reported stabbing around 7:10 p.m.

Arriving officers did not find a victim at the scene, but Sgt. Joe Albert said officers later learned a man took himself to Mount Carmel East hospital. He is reportedly in critical, but stable condition.

Albert said officers spoke with people at the scene and determined the man was stabbed by an unknown suspect while he was in an altercation with a group of juveniles. It's unclear how many juveniles are involved, but Albert said multiple were detained.

The incident is believed to have started out of an altercation among neighbors.

No charges have been filed as of Tuesday night.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Columbus Division of Police’s Felony Assault Unit at 614-645-4141.
