COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man who served as a getaway driver in the 2019 murder of a husband and wife at an east Columbus internet café pleaded guilty on Tuesday.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Ohio, Justice Stringer, 28, drove his co-defendants to and from Players Paradise on East Broad Street in the early morning hours of Jan. 20, 2019.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said one person sat at a game as if he was playing and others positioned themselves near the office door.
When Karen Arrington tried to enter the office, the suspects confronted Joseph Arrington, who was working as a security guard for the business. Both were shot and killed at the scene.
Authorities say Stringer pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery, two counts of aiding and abetting murdering using a firearm and one count of brandishing a firearm during the murder.
Five people, including Stringer, were charged in the shooting and in connection in connection to a string of robberies of other internet gaming businesses. Four of the people involved in the shooting have pleaded guilty to related federal crimes.
Court documents say 27-year-old Chris King and another co-defendant robbed the café at gunpoint and fatally shot the husband and wife. Stringer then drove the men away. King, who is charged with three counts of murder, is scheduled to go on trial in April.
Authorities say Stringer also robbed Players Paradise at gunpoint in December 2018 and got away with $30,000 in cash.
Stringer will serve 30 years in prison as part of his guilty plea.
