Man sentenced to least 32 years in prison for burglary, shooting 2 people last year in Licking County

LICKING COUNTY, Ohio — A man accused of shooting two people at a home in Licking County last year pleaded guilty to all charges in court on Thursday.

On March 14, 2023, Licking County deputies were dispatched to a home in the 7700 block of White Chapel Road for a reported shooting.

Deputies found two victims, who were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the Licking County prosecutor's office, Devon Jones shot his way into the residence and fired 11 shots at four family members, injuring two of them. Jones also fired seven shots from a rental car at fleeing family members before driving away. Jones was later arrested in Knox County.

Jones pleaded guilty to the following charges:

  • Four counts of attempted murder
  • One count of aggravated burglary
  • Two counts of felonious assault
  • Two counts of improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation
  • Fourteen counts of discharging a firearm at or near prohibited premises
  • Six counts of criminal damaging

A judge sentenced Jones to 32 to 37.5 years in prison.
