GRANDVIEW HEIGHTS, Ohio — A 33-year-old man suspected in the beating death of a Grandview Heights man last year was indicted by a grand jury on Thursday.
The Grandview Heights Police Department said that Jacob Laurence was indicted for reckless homicide and tampering with evidence involving the death of 57-year-old Stephen Albright that occurred on Nov. 13, 2023.
Additional criminal charges are being considered and the incident is still under investigation, police said.
Police are not pursuing any criminal charges against the woman who was seen in the surveillance images with Laurence prior to Albright's death.
On Nov. 13, Grandview officers and medics received a call about an unconscious man found near the train tracks on West Fifth Avenue, just east of Dublin Road. The man, later identified as Albright, was suffering from severe head injuries and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. He died days later.
Laurence was taken into custody in the 1300 block of Dublin Road, just west of Grandview, on Nov. 22. Police said he had an outstanding warrant from a previous burglary in Franklin County and was booked into jail on the warrant.
