COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Franklin County jury found a 33-year-old man guilty of fatally shooting another man in north Columbus last year. According to the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, the shooting was the result of an argument over a parking space.

Johnnie Wappner was found guilty on Friday of murder, reckless homicide and felonious assault. Each charge carries a three-year firearm specification.

The incident happened on Sept. 21, 2022, when a fight broke out over a parking space at a duplex. Wappner hit 32-year-old Marcus Deloney on the head multiple times with a firearm and then shot him in the back, according to the prosecuting attorney’s office.

Officers found Deloney dead when they arrived at the scene six minutes after the argument.
