COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man was killed in a shooting at a hookah lounge in Blendon Township early Sunday morning, according to police.
Officers with the Blendon Township Police Department were called to the No Cap Hookah Lounge and Grill, located at 4490 Cleveland Avenue, on a report of a shooting around 3:35 a.m.
Police say 38-year-old Devon Ball was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital in critical condition where he later died.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Crime Scene Unit and Blendon Township police are investigating the incident.
It's unclear what led up to the shooting. No suspect information has been released at this time.
Just this year, police have been called to the location several times, including three times for a suspicious person or car, one call for a fight, one call for shots fired and seven calls for loud music.
This is the first homicide in Blendon Township this year. There have been a total of six homicides in the last five years.
“With No Cap Hookah, we have been in contact with the liquor control agents from the Ohio investigation unit and they have made spot checks there," Police Chief John Belford said. "We have talked to our fire department about investigating fire code violations and our own code enforcement for building code and occupancy permits."
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call 614-882-8500 or email bnance@blendontwp.org.
