HILLIARD, Ohio — A man was indicted Monday on charges of kidnapping and strangulation after allegedly assaulting a 60-year-old woman at the At Home store in Hilliard a week ago.
A Franklin County grand jury indicted 26-year-old Mohamed Camara on two counts for an incident that happened on Sept. 20 at the At Home store located on Park Mill Drive.
Two people called 911 Friday afternoon after hearing screams coming from the women’s bathroom. The victim’s son was one of the callers.
Hilliard police officers quickly responded to the scene. Employees inside the store quickly guided officers to the bathroom where they were told the woman’s husband had the suspect pinned down.
Officers were able to locate Camara in the bathroom. Camara was then taken into custody.
The woman told officers she was at the store with her husband, son and grandchild. She went into the bathroom and heard someone walk in after her.
When she walked out of the stall, the woman said she saw Camara standing by the sink. She told police that he grabbed her by the throat, squeezing hard enough that she couldn’t breathe, and then slammed her into the wall.
Camara also covered her mouth, but the woman said she fought to move his hand away so she could scream for her husband who was in a nearby aisle in the store.
Officers reported noticing bruising on the woman’s face and arms, as well as a broken blood vessel in her eye.
