COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man wanted in connection to the fatal shooting of a woman at a southeast Columbus apartment in 2021 was taken into custody Monday afternoon.
In 2021, officers with the Columbus Division of Police were called to an apartment located at 2100 block of Winslow Drive for a report of a deceased woman. Police identified the woman as 46-year-old Felecia Lane. Authorities say she lived in the apartment.
After an autopsy, it was revealed that Lane's death was caused by a gunshot wound.
On Aug. 1, 2023, Larry Hutson was indicted in the Franklin County Common Pleas Court for allegedly fatally shooting Lane. Later, on Sept. 4, The U.S. Marshals Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team launched a fugitive investigation.
According to U.S. Marshals, Hutson was wanted by Columbus police for murder and weapons under disability.
Alongside Columbus SWAT and the K-9 unit, Hutson was safely apprehended in the 3000 block of East 7th Avenue in Columbus.
“The United States Marshals Service along with our task force partners work daily to remove those accused of the most violent crimes from our community,” U.S. Marshal Michael Black said. “The teamwork between the dedicated investigators and the tactical expertise of the SWAT professionals and K-9 unit led to another safe arrest of an alleged murder suspect.”
