COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man was arrested after he punched a Columbus police officer multiple times on Monday, according to Franklin County Municipal Court records.

Around 8:10 a.m., officers with the Columbus Division of Police were called to the CVS at 2680 North High Street in north Columbus after they received a report of a disturbance. Police learned that Leo Wilson was threatening customers and being irate.

Court records say an officer encountered Wilson down the street from the CVS and started talking with him. Wilson began yelling at the officer and allegedly punched him in the face.

Wilson continued punching the officer as he was placed on the ground, according to court records. Other officers assisted and arrested Wilson without further incident.

Court records say that during an interview with detectives, Wilson said he punched the officer approximately four times.

Wilson is charged with assault on a peace officer. He is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
