HOUSTON — Houston police said they're investigating after a man and woman were found dead at a southwest Houston home on Tuesday evening.
HISD police officers went to the home on Bankside Drive around 8 p.m. to check on the parents of an 8-year-old student who hadn't been picked up from school.
When they got there, they saw something that led them to believe that the situation was dangerous, so they entered the home.
"Once they got in the house, they found an adult female deceased from apparent blunt trauma and they found a male that appears to be deceased from self-hanging," HPD Lt. Larry Crowson said.
The woman, 34, also had wounds to her neck. Her body was found in the dining room. The man, 54, was found hanging in a game room.
HPD homicide detectives believe it was a murder-suicide. The couple's names haven't been released.
The child was turned over to Child Protective Services until other family members could be notified.
