Wrong-way driver arrested in Franklin County after K-9 finds crystal meth inside vehicle during traffic stop

Campfield was charged with possession of controlled substances.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio — A Columbus man was arrested after deputies found 30 grams of crystal meth during a traffic stop in Franklin County on Tuesday.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said deputies working the third shift spotted a wrong-way driver, identified as Eric Campfield, who left a Sheetz gas station on West Broad Street.

The deputies performed a traffic stop and a K-9 searched the vehicle because of Campbell’s behavior.

The K-9 searched the vehicle’s interior compartment and found approximately 30 grams of crystal meth concealed in a plastic bag.

Campfield was charged with possession of controlled substances and is being held in the Franklin County Corrections Center.

Campfield is scheduled to appear in Franklin County Municipal Court on Wednesday.
