20-year-old man fatally shot in Home Depot parking lot; 17-year-old charged

The sheriff's office says the teen is still on the run.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio — Authorities are searching for a teenage boy accused of fatally shooting a man in a Home Depot parking lot in west Franklin County last week.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called just before 9 p.m. on Aug. 23. to the Home Depot store located at 100 South Grener Ave. off of West Broad Street for a report of a shooting.

A man, identified as 20-year-old Javier Roberto Ventura-Sanchez, was found with a gunshot wound to his upper chest. Medics took him to Doctors Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:45 p.m.

Investigators discovered that Ventura-Sanchez and a friend went to the parking lot to meet with a 17-year-old boy following a previous argument.

During the meeting, the sheriff's office said the teenager shot Ventura-Sanchez before leaving the scene. He has been charged with aggravated murder, according to the sheriff's office. 

The sheriff's office says the teen is still on the run.
