COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy was taken to a hospital after their cruiser was struck on Interstate 71 in Pleasant Township Saturday morning.
The crash happened around 1 a.m. while deputies were at the scene of a crash involving a deer on I-71, south of state Route 62. The sheriff's office said in a Facebook post that the rear end of the cruiser was hit by an impaired driver.
The deputy was inside the cruiser at the time of the crash.
According to the sheriff's office, the deputy was taken to Grant Medical Center and has since been released.
The driver was arrested and is suspected of being under the influence of marijuana and alcohol.
The incident is being investigated by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
