COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Franklin County deputy was arrested and relieved of duty Saturday morning after allegedly punching a woman and holding a gun to her head, according to Franklin County court records.
The Franklin County Sheriff's Department said Deputy Nathaniel Wolfe, 26, was arrested by deputies when he arrived for work at the Jackson Pike Correction Center. He was taken into custody without incident.
Court records state that Columbus police officers were called to a home in the 800 block of Lancia Lane around 12:50 a.m. Saturday after receiving a complaint involving a gun.
The documents say that officers spoke with the victim who said she had been in a fight with another woman when Wolfe intervened. The victim told police that while she was fighting with the woman, Wolfe got out of his car that was parked in front of the home, walked up to the victim and punched her in the face. Wolfe then pulled a handgun from his waist and held it to the victim's head.
Following the incident, the woman and Wolfe fled the scene together.
Columbus police have filed aggravated menacing and assault charges against Wolfe. He has been relieved of duty pending the outcome of the criminal charges and the investigation.
Wolfe was arraigned in Franklin County Municipal Court on Saturday and was released on his own recognizance. Conditions of his bond include no alcohol or drug consumption, no possession of firearms and pre-trial supervision.
