Police identify 19-year-old man killed in North Linden shooting; suspect arrested

The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Shirldenna Featherstone, was taken into custody at the scene and charged with one count of reckless homicide.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 19-year-old man is dead after a shooting in North Linden Saturday morning and a suspect has been arrested, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

Officers were called to a home in the 1700 block of Genessee Avenue just after 10:35 a.m. on a report of a shooting. 

When they arrived, they found the victim, identified as Tahvon Ford, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, court records state.

Medics pronounced Ford dead at 10:46 a.m., police say.

The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Shirldenna Featherstone, was taken into custody at the scene and charged with one count of reckless homicide.

According to Franklin County Municipal Court documents, Featherstone told detectives that she was on the bed with Ford who was showing her his rifle when "the gun accidentally fired," hitting Ford.
