COLUMBUS, Ohio — One person was killed and another was critically injured after an exchange of gunfire at a home in east Columbus Friday morning, police said.
The shooting happened in the 1700 block of East Main Street between Bulen and Fairwood avenues around 10:15 a.m.
Columbus Police Assistant Chief Greg Bodker said dispatchers received several calls about multiple gunshots being fired in the area.
Officers arrived at the location and found two people. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released.
The other person was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition.
Bodker said the incident is believed to have stemmed from an altercation and led to a shootout between two people. It’s unclear if anyone else was hurt or involved in the incident.
The shooting remains under investigation, according to Bodker.
