Suspect in deadly 2022 shooting at Sheetz gas station found guilty of murder

Keimariyon Ross will be sentenced on Sept. 5.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Columbus man charged in a deadly shooting that happened at a gas station nearly two years ago was found guilty of murder.

Keimariyon Ross, 20, was convicted on nine felony counts, including murder, attempted murder, felonious assault and improperly handling a firearm In a motor vehicle.

Ross was charged in the shooting death of 21-year-old Kevin Sobnosky, who the prosecutor said was an honors student, at the Sheetz gas station at North Cassady Avenue on Oct. 30, 2022.

The Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office said Sobnosky and three of his friends were getting ready to drive back to Youngstown after attending a party at The Ohio State University.

The group stopped for gas at the gas station when two other groups were getting into a confrontation that led to a shootout.

The prosecutor’s office said Ross fired several rounds into the car Sobnosky was in, striking and killing him.

The jury reached the guilty verdict after a six-day trial.

Ross is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 5.
