The Fraternal Order of Police confirms that a veteran robbery detective has been arrested.
Detective Steve Billups has been arrested on unknown federal charges.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office refused to issue a statement to 10TV News on Friday.
FOP President Jason Pappas told 10TV News that Billups has not asked for representation nor will they provide it because of the criminal matter.
Sources told 10TV News that Billups was taken into custody by federal officials at the Columbus Police Headquarters.
A Columbus police spokesman confirmed that Billups was jailed at the Delaware County Jail.
Police Sergeant Rich Weiner said Billups has not been relieved of his duty because police officials did not have an opportunity to see him before his arrest.
