The man accused of gunning down his sister-in-law and fleeing to Indiana has died a day after shooting himself in the head.
34-year-old Jerry Way was pronounced dead Wednesday morning, less than 24 hours after he shot to death April Lazar, 28.
Chillicothe police were called to a home on Laurel Street Tuesday morning to find Lazar, the sister-in-law- of Way, dead in the backyard of the home from a single gunshot wound.
Shortly after the shooting, Way fled to Indiana. Someone posted from the Facebook account Way shared with his wife, alluding to taking his own life. The post read: "No one know (sic) what I've been through and no it wasn't right and in the end I'm going to take my own life but there is a lot to this."
Six minutes later, another post: "I'm so scared. People can judge me all they want...it was just something that shouldn't of (sic) happened."
Just before noon on Tuesday, police in Richmond, Indiana located Way and approached his vehicle. But before they could speak with him, he shot himself in the head.
Way was transported to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, where he died early Wednesday.
