The man accused of raping and stabbing a northeast Columbus woman has been formally charged with the crimes.
David Hudson was arraigned on charges of rape, kidnapping and felonious assault in Franklin County Municipal Court on Friday morning.
A judge set his bond at $750,000.
From her hospital bed, the 29-year-old victim told 10TV that Hudson raped her at knife point, stabbed her and tried to suffocate her.
Her husband, Ronald Whitlock, said he's known Hudson for nearly a decade.
It is the policy of 10TV News not to identify the family members of rape victims, but the station is doing so at the request of the victim.
He and his wife offered Hudson a place to stay after he was released from jail.
Whitlock said he was not home when his old friend turned worst enemy.
"She seen the knife, she asked what he was doing, where I was," said Whitlock. "And he said that he had already killed me, and he was there to kill her."
The victim said she was stabbed more than a dozen times and played dead, until she could escape.
She said she ran to a second floor window and jumped. That's when a neighbor saw her -- bleeding and screaming -- and called 911.
When police arrested Hudson at his mother's house, he told detectives he found the victim in her bedroom with cuts to her face, according to court documents. He told police he tried to stop the bleeding, but thought she was dead, so he left.
Hudson is in the Franklin County Jail, but the victim's family says she still fears for her life.
"I don't see how somebody could have survived something like this, because she was really messed up," said the victim's brother, Keith Sorrell.
The victim is undergoing surgery at OSU Medical Center.
"If it had been anybody else, they might not be here, but she was strong... she's a fighter," Sorrell said.
Hudson has a criminal history dating back to 2007, including assault and theft convictions.
A judge set a preliminary hearing for this case for August 23.
