Residents around The Ohio State University campus say there’s more graffiti showing up in the area.
Columbus police received at least two reports of graffiti this past week on East 12th Avenue.
Community Crime Patrol makes rounds in the area and says graffiti is a difficult crime to combat because of how quickly the spray painting is done. But patrollers say there are a few steps residents can take.
They say to consider purchasing surveillance cameras, security lights and painting over any existing graffiti.
"When it happens, just paint over it and then they'll go someplace else. They'll find someplace else because they don't want to have their work covered up,” says Ellen Moore Griffin, Executive Director of Community Crime Patrol.
Patrollers say most of the graffiti crimes happen during the early morning hours, before sunrise.
