Firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed an east Columbus after-hours club Friday night.

Firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed an east Columbus after-hours club Friday night.

The fire started around 10PM at the corner of Kimball Place and E Fulton Street.

Neighbors have been fighting to get the building closed.  They said it has been the location of five murders.

The most recent happened in June.

Police said someone shot and killed 32-year-old Marcus VanCleaf on the sidewalk outside the after-hours bar.

VanCleaf's uncle has been lobbying Columbus City Council to shut the club down.

The day before the fire a "for sale" sign was posted on the front.

Firefighters say the fire started on the first floor.  It is unclear what sparked the flames.
