A teen who escaped the Marion County Juvenile Center a day ago has been apprehended.
16-year-old Michael Wilson was captured around 10:30 Tuesday morning near the Delaware County Fairgrounds.
This comes after authorities launched a manhunt for the teen who escaped the facility around 7:00 Monday night.
The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office says two off-duty State Highway Patrol troopers spotted Wilson along U.S. 23 in northern Delaware County. After a brief foot chase, deputies shot the teen with a Taser after he failed to comply with their pleas to stop. He was then taken into custody.
The Sheriff’s Office adds that Wilson escaped the facility after scaling a 15 to 20 foot wall. He then traveled 20 miles before his arrest near the Delaware County Fairgrounds.
The teen was taken to the hospital, but will be returned to the Marion County Juvenile Center later on Tuesday, where he is serving time for armed robbery, theft and felonious assault.
