Outdoor recreation for inmates at the Delaware County Jail was on hold until a security assessment could be completed, 10TV News reported on Wednesday.
According to Sheriff Russell Martin, a fence company was slated to inspect all of the outdoor fences at the jail after an inmate tried to escape over a fence on Tuesday.
Terry Ray Wetzel is accused of attempting to climb over a razor-wire fence to escape. He was jailed for allegedly breaking into homes, stealing cars and evading law enforcement officials, 10TV News reported.
Martin said that if improvements are recommended, outdoor recreation time would not resume until the improvements were completed.
