Crime Stoppers: Reward Offered In Armed Robbery Investigation

Police are trying to identify a man wanted in connection to an armed robbery at a convenience store.

Crime Stoppers is helping police identify a man wanted in an armed robbery in southeast Columbus.

The crime occurred on Tuesday, July 15. A man entered the De Store on Gender Road and pulled out a semiautomatic hand gun. The suspect rushed the front counter and forced the clerk to the floor. He emptied the cash register, putting money into a blue trash bag. He also took several cartons of cigarettes while threatening to kill the clerk.

When the clerk ran out of the back of the store, the suspect fled through the front door. He ran across Gender Road and toward Winchester Crossing Blvd. Nearly 30 minutes later, a suspicious person entered a Giant Eagle on South Hamilton Road. The person had the same build and appeared to wear the some of the same clothes as the suspect. He was talking through a headset to another person who may have been an accomplice, waiting in a car in a nearby parking lot.

The suspect in the robbery was a black male around 6' tall. He weight around 240 pounds. At the time of the crime, he was wearing a white t-shirt, black pants, and a black OSU baseball cap with a red bill. He had a white bandana covering his face. He also wore black gloves and sunglasses.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for any information leading to the arrest and/or indictment of the person(s) responsible for this crime. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477).
