Columbus' city council will vote Monday on whether to settle a lawsuit accusing a Franklin County judge of sexual harassment.
The Columbus City Attorney's Office is asking council to settle the lawsuit for $150,000.
WBNS-10TV spoke to the woman behind the suit who says money was not her motivation behind winning the case.
The lawsuit stems from a suit filed in federal court by Municipal court interpreter Brenda Williams. She claimed she was forced to work in a hostile work environment in Judge Harland Hale's courtroom, although Hale was not mentioned in the lawsuit because he settled out of court with Williams.
Williams alleged she was sexually harassed while working as a Spanish interpreter and when she complained, she claimed she was retaliated against and ultimately terminated. The city's attorney's office suggested the council approve the settlement in the case.
Williams said that she never wanted to file the lawsuit.
"All I ever wanted from the beginning was to be believed and an apology" Williams said. "That's all I ever wanted."
The city contested Williams was never an employee of the city, but instead was employed by the court, but the federal court ruled otherwise preventing the case from being dismissed.
