Mother accused of suffocating, killing 2-year-old son in Obetz given $1 million bond

Documents say Lemou Cire admitted to placing her hand over the mouth and the other hand over the nose of her son, causing him to stop breathing.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 39-year-old woman in Obetz was arrested and charged in the death of her 2-year-old son on Tuesday.

According to documents from the Franklin County Municipal Court, Lemou Cire told detectives she killed her son around 11:30 a.m. at a residence on Holstein Drive.

Documents say Cire admitted to placing her hand over the mouth and the other hand over the nose of her son, causing him to stop breathing. The son's identity was not released.

Cire is charged with aggravated murder.  She appeared in Franklin County Municipal Court where she received a $1 million bond. 

During the arraignment,  the son's father said Cire's mental health had deteriorated over the past few weeks. 

Her next court date is scheduled for Oct. 25 at 9 a.m.
